Hot Jalapeno Crab Dip
Adjust your desired "heat" by adding more or less jalapenos. I find this balance pleases most people.
1 Lb. Crab meat (or imitation)
1 tsp. Garlic, chopped
1 Tbl. Pickled Jalapenos, chopped
8 oz. Monterrey Jack Cheese, shredded
1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp. Hot Sauce
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 C. Mayonnaise
2 oz. Parmesan Cheese, grated
1
recipe Toasted Croutons, recipe follows
Combine crab, garlic, jalapenos, Monterrey Jack,
Worcestershire, hot sauce, salt & mayonnaise in a medium size bowl. Toss gently to mix. Spoon mixture
into a pie plate. Sprinkle the Parmesan
evenly over the top. Bake at 350° until
golden brown & bubbly, approximately 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes
before serving
with the croutons.
Toasted Croutons:
1
loaf French Bread, cut into ¼ “ slices, 5 Tbl. Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper
Use an electric knife to slice your bread for easy & nice even slices. Arrange
slices on baking sheet, and brush both sides lightly with olive oil, then
sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at
400° for about 6 minutes, then turn the baking sheet around in the oven to
ensure even browning. Bake until the
croutons are lightly browned, about 6 more minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely
before serving.
(Alternative
shortcut: spray both sides of bread with
olive oil Pam, then continue as above.)
