Welcome!

Please by patient, as I have no clue what I am doing and hope to learn along the way.

I wanted a place to share my love of cooking, interesting recipes & a little of this and that.  I hope you find something that interests you!

A little about me:

I am an older newlywed - John and I were married May 2011.  Didn't think marriage was in the cards for me... was a career gal.  Then, along came John.  We met on a blind date - yes, they actually DO work out some times!  That was back in 2008 and we have been together almost every day since.  Often times it feels as if I am in a dream - and I don't want to wake up!  Never imagined I could be this happy!!

I've always loved cooking - something my mother passed on to me before leaving us way too young.  As soon as there was a knock on the door, my mother would be taking something out of the fridge or freezer and trying to feed whoever was there.  I always said, if I could be 1/2 what my mother was, I would be thrilled.  She was an amazing woman.

I read cookbooks like most other people read novels... love them and can't get enough!  Doubt I'll ever have the time to try all the recipes earmarked in those books!  Thankfully John loves trying new things and is thrilled to be my guinea pig.  We have discovered a lot of "keepers" along the way, and a few that just didn't make the cut.

Along with cooking I enjoy crafting... love doing ceramics and even have my own kiln.  I can go downstairs and start painting and completely lose myself... next thing I know it's time for dinner!

I also dabble in gardening... mostly vegetable gardening.  John laughs at me when I come inside babbling about my first babies - that is baby tomatoes, baby cucumbers, baby zucchini, etc.  There is nothing better than homegrown fresh vegetables & herbs!  I do some home canning - mom was what I call a "farmers" canner... she canned tomatoes, beans, corn, etc.  I much rather make things & then can... like jams, jellies, peach butter, apple butter, banana butter, applesauce, pickles, salsa, etc.  Always searching for new & different things to make & can.
